The University of Birmingham Business Club is a network that gives businesses and academics the opportunity to meet and develop mutually-beneficial collaborations. Are you looking to innovate within your company? Are you looking to fund a programme of research and development? Could your company provide internships for our student populace? The Business Club is the point of contact to answer these questions and more.

Hosted every two months, the Club's Breakfast Briefings are themed around business-relevant presentations and networking time. Breakfast and refreshments are provided free of charge, with the University's support team on hand to answer any questions that may arise about innovation funding.

Breakfast Briefing - Innovation in Manufacturing – it's not immaterial

 The UK economy has a strong base in high value manufacturing and advanced materials and underpins sectors such as aerospace, automotive, energy, transport and process industries. The University of Birmingham’s research aligns closely to the needs of these business and reaches across the manufacturing technologies, such as machining, additive manufacturing, biomedical/biomaterials, automation & robotics, modelling & simulation, materials processing & analysis, food and consumer goods, rail, remanufacturing, nanotechnology, sensing, microsystems and vehicle technology.

On Thursday 8 June, the University of Birmingham Business Club will host a discussion on the state of UK innovation in manufacturing and what role funding has in stimulating R&D in this sector.

With guest speakers Malcolm Harold, The Knowledge Transfer Network, and Nick Haigh, Business Engagement Manager for AMCASH, a new SME engagement project for supporting companies working in the materials sector, this briefing aims to provide an overview of the support available to businesses from both the University and Innovate UK.
