Join us for a gathering full of live partnership case studies and panels discussing how technology companies and decision-makers from the private and public sectors are collaborating to reduce living costs for low-income households.
The Fair By Design (FBD) Roadshow is a series of events bringing together social impact innovators and decision-makers committed to tackling the Poverty Premium across the UK.
It will serve as a platform for all change-makers determined to work together and share best practices and the latest solutions, including tech businesses and social enterprises solving specific aspects of the Poverty Premium (fuel and food poverty, financial exclusion and high credit, digital exclusion, transport, etc.) and key enablers (policy-makers, local councils, housing associations, credit unions, large employers, media, etc...) that can support the roll-out of these cost-saving services to their residents, employees, and/or constituents.

Fair By Design Roadshow "Tackling the Poverty Premium” Launches in Oldham
On April 10th 2019, we launched the "Tackling the Poverty Premium" Roadshow in Greater Manchester. The event was hosted in Oldham, home of the Wayra UK Fair By Design (‘FBD’) accelerator, which launched in July 2017. The co-working space was part of a £1m investment by Oldham Council to help entrepreneurs in the Greater Manchester area develop scalable new tech businesses, which in turn will create jobs and foster economic growth.
Oldham Council Leader, Sean Fielding, opened by sharing his work in local ‘Fairness Campaigns’ and how, as a local authority, Oldham Council is working towards a model that integrates with local partners (e.g. Housing Associations) in a way that puts local members at the heart of it. The rest of the afternoon was comprised of panels covering local Oldham initiatives, upskilling for new employment, better access to finance and fair credit, reducing fuel poverty, and promoting digital inclusion.
