ABA Consulting receives Coronavirus business support

ABA Consulting provide civil and structural engineers and technicians for a wide range of building and infrastructure projects, whilst their support team ensure that business systems and processes are kept in order.

Like a lot of businesses in the world, ABA Consulting have felt pressure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Though a lot of their work has continued, the company has had to furlough a member of staff and “because of that, there has been a direct hit”. Julie Brough, owner and Managing Director has also said that there have been “slight delays in payments” in terms of contractors and various organisations. She further stated, “we’re all working from home and we can’t go to site and have stopped people going to site and having visitors”.

ABA Consulting have used the Growth Hub’s services several times over the last few years, speaking to our business advisors for support, business growth advice and to participate in our various programmes. James Roberts, one of our Business Resilience Account Managers, initially was in contact with Julie to help ensure a smooth transition during the EU Exit. Julie explained “COVID-19 hit just after he came to speak to me… he has been in touch ever since, helping to see what grants I’m entitled to.”

Julie spoke highly of the services that our Account Manager provided; “I’ve been in constant contact with James, he’s been absolutely brilliant. He contacts me probably once a week to make sure that I’m okay and to update me on anything else obviously if things have been developing.”

James consistently keeps Julie updated on the latest information on business support during the coronavirus pandemic, “he keeps me abreast of all developments in terms of what I can and can’t do and what help there is out there. As far as help is concerned, I’m pretty good in terms of the knowledge that you’ve given me.”

As a result of the advice given by James, ABA Consulting applied for and received the Small Business Grant from the government which enabled them “to use it towards having licenses available for people at home” (Julie Brough, Managing Director).
