In September 2020, the Department for Education launched the first three T Level qualifications, designed to equip young people with the technical skills on which to build their careers.
T Level Industry Placements are currently being sought for the following courses:
- Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction,
- Digital Production, Design and Development
- Education and Childcare
Can’t offer a placement in these industries but want to engage with young talent and create opportunities?
Contact to the GBSLEP Skills Hub team for fully-funded support and impartial advice on: Apprenticeships, the Kickstart Scheme, virtual work experience for secondary students, traineeships and graduate recruitment schemes.
What are T Levels?
To achieve a T Level pass every student has to complete a substantial Industry Placement with a local employer as part of their course. The Covid-19 pandemic has placed additional pressure on colleges and other training providers in sourcing enough Industry Placements for their students, and the GBSLEP Skills Hub, alongside other professional and intermediary bodies, has offered to help.
If your organisation can get involved by offering students a good quality Industry Placement you’ll be providing a young person with their first step into the world of work, as well as engaging with fresh new talent.
These Level 3 courses for 16 to 19 year olds and are equivalent to three A-levels. They are full-time two-year courses, developed in collaboration with employers, and are based on the same standards as apprenticeships.
They offer a mixture of classroom learning and ‘on-the-job’ experience through an industry placement of at least 315 hours (approximately 45 days).
