The GBSLEP Skills Hub is now able to help SMEs in the GBSLEP area to access grants of up to £3,500. The grant aims to help businesses to take on young people who are not in education, employment or training (NEET). This exciting development is thanks to the funds made available from the European Social Fund (ESF). If you are looking to add to your workforce and to take on a young apprentice, then this may be for you. Do get in touch to see if your business is eligible for the support and grant.
But what is the GBSLEP Skills Hub? The GBSLEP Skills Hub has now been in operation for a over 12 months and we are here to support businesses to find solutions to their workforce needs. To date, we have completed over 160 Training Needs Analysis processes and supported over 500 companies to assess and grow their workforce. The Skills Hub team has recently grown with Lee Cattermole joining the team as the Skills Hub Manager and Eva Alos taking control of our funding for ESF projects. Within the next few months, we will be further expanding the team to provide additional support to more businesses, with a more comprehensive service.
As well as offering the grant to SMEs to take on young people who are not in education, employment or training, we additionally continue to support any business with the utilisation of the Apprenticeship Levy, whether they have their own levy account to manage or need additional funding to support young people into Apprenticeships, Traineeships or other schemes to give young people a boost in their careers. As a team, we able support companies which are looking at their workforce development requirements, whether it is compliance, technical skills or higher technical skills and leadership.
We also understand that many of the funding opportunities that are available to businesses to take on employees are often confusing and the criteria difficult to grasp. Again, we are here as a Skills Hub to provide a central source of information, advice and guidance. Our fantastic team within the Growth Hub can also advise businesses on other aspects of support that will help your business to grow and thrive.
